Andy sent me an email with a sugestion he has about changing altitudes during the mission. I like that idea and would like to see it developed.
Before PFF missions the altitude was often changed over the target to try get below the cloud cover and it could also be changed to go over or under, or around, bad weather.
Here's Andy's idea:
I've been thinking about possibility to change altitudes during the mission, flak and bombing accuracy.
You could have random elements each zone where mission controller could order to lower altitude (especially on a Good or fair day) or the lead could decide to do so. If your lead you could have ability to decide at any time. Positives obviously increased chance of bombing accuracy. negatives, the lower the altitude the more accurate flak would be. More of a risk/reward decision making. On a bad day, lead could decide to avoid enemy aircraft and increase altitude. Positives, -1 or more modifier depending on altitude for table MT-2. Less chance of flak accuracy. Negatives, risk of collision, navigation, bombing accuracy.
